The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, said that he had no reason to have a telephone conversation with the head of the Kremlin, Putin.
He said this in an interview with the FranceInfo TV channel.
At the same time, the French president added that he would pick up the phone if Putin himself called him.
"I have no reason to call him now... If he calls me to propose something, I will accept because France has always been a state that promotes dialogue," Macron said.
At the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Macron called Putin regularly.
In February, the Kremlin complained that the leaders of France and Germany had not initiated contacts with Putin for a long time.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyі, stated that Macron was wasting his time considering any dialogue with Russia.
