British intelligence: Russia uses dolphins to protect the Russian Black Sea Fleet base in Sevastopol

British intelligence says that Russia has recently increased defenses at the Black Sea Fleet base in occupied Sevastopol and is attracting bottlenose dolphins for protection.

This is stated in the intelligence review of the British Ministry of Defense on the Russian-Ukrainian war dated June 23.

Analysts note that as early as the summer of 2022, Russia began to strengthen security measures for the Black Sea Fleet base in occupied Sevastopol. Among other things, these are at least four layers of nets and boom barriers at the entrance to the harbor.

In recent weeks, it seems that the "line of defense" has been supplemented by a large number of specially trained marine mammals.

"You can see in the pictures that the number of animal enclosures in the harbor has almost doubled. They most likely have bottlenose dolphins. In the Arctic, the navy also uses belugas and seals. Russia uses trained animals for various tasks. Those housed in the harbor Sevastopol, most likely, are there to counter enemy divers," the review notes.

Also this week, British intelligence showed Russian defense fortifications in the north of Crimea.
