Law enforcement officers and rescue workers are preparing to eliminate the consequences in case the Russian invaders stage a terrorist attack at the occupied Zaporizhzhуa NPP. Headquarters have already been deployed in Ukraine.

 This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko on the air of the telethon.

 "First of all, people need to remain calm. It is based on the readiness of all our services: the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Health, local authorities for any emergency events and situations, including those related to a possible radiation leak from the ZNPP ", - he said.

 According to him, today the Ministry of Internal Affairs launched the work of the relevant headquarters. Energy workers, emergency services workers, police and medics will be present there. Klymenko noted that it is important to convey to citizens the rules of behavior in the event of an emergency.

 The minister emphasized that in the event of a terrorist attack, the most important will be the first day, when the radiation background will be the highest.

 "As for the Zaporizhzhуa NPP. The radioactive background, which may be in the air after any measures, will remain for approximately 1 day. That is, we will reduce the radioactive background by 80% within a day," he emphasized.

 During this time, if there are no evacuation measures, every citizen should close himself in the room, close the ventilation, turn off the air conditioners and heaters. It is also necessary to seal all the holes that are in the houses with a wet cloth or tape.

 "In the coming days, we will conduct appropriate exercises with road closures and the appropriate deployment of sanitary checkpoints where we will check for radiation. All the radiation measurement equipment that we have is calibrated and ready to work. But we want to regroup all the services. For that we can clearly respond to any challenges," the minister said.

 Klymenko noted that all citizens who want to leave the affected area will be provided with appropriate transport.

 "Near nuclear power plants, we constantly hold such events. We don't always advertise it. But at the moment, we will work quite openly. We will work in close cooperation with the population and inform about all our steps that we will take in the relevant territory. Under this territory "We mean a 50-kilometer zone around the ZNPP. If we take both the right and left banks, that's about half a million people," said the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

 How to protect yourself in the event of a terrorist attack at the ZNPP

Klymenko explained that radiation is mostly dust. You can protect yourself from it on the street with a regular respirator or a mask that was used during COVID-19.

 "This is all you need to know. And, of course, watch the mass media, where we will constantly inform the population about the situation that is around and, of course, about the security measures that we will take together," the minister added.

 He emphasized that in the event of a disaster at the ZNPP, it is necessary to close indoors, and experts will inform additionally about the possibility of moving to a shelter.

 "First of all, we must shut ourselves up at home for one day. That is, until the time when the local authorities and civil defense authorities issue appropriate orders to move to one or another district, or to another territory. That is, we are talking about a possible thermal emission that will lose its greatest concentration during the day," said Klymenko.

 What is known about the situation at the ZNPP

 It will be recalled that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, announced that the occupiers are preparing a terrorist attack on the Zaporizhzhуa NPP with the release of radiation. He emphasized that the Russians had already prepared for him.

 Also earlier, the head of the Ministry of Defense's GUR, Kyrylo Budanov, said that the occupiers additionally mined the Zaporizhzhya NPP, namely the cooling pool.
