President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced on Monday that he held telephone talks with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, during which the parties discussed Ukraine's defense needs and expectations from the NATO summit, in particular.

"Had a telephone conversation with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. We discussed Ukraine's defense needs and our further cooperation to expand Ukraine's capabilities on the battlefield, in particular through long-range weapons," Zelensky wrote on Twitter.

According to the President, positions were coordinated with Sunak on the eve of the Vilnius NATO summit. "It is important for Ukraine to get concrete prospects for membership," Zelenskyi emphasized.

Also, according to him, they discussed steps to implement the "peace formula" and prepare security guarantees for Ukraine.

"He stressed the need to increase sanctions pressure on Russia, including through the increase in Russian production of missiles from Western components," the Head of State said.
