Spain will provide Ukraine with 20 TOA M-113 armored vehicles and four Leopard 2A4 tanks. Defense Minister Margarita Robles announced this on June 15 at a meeting of the contact group on defense of Ukraine (Ramstein format) in Brussels, the press service of the Spanish Ministry of Defense reported.
According to her, 20 armored vehicles will arrive in Poland on June 19 and will be added to the 40 already delivered.
The four tanks to be delivered by Spain were being repaired.
"Ukraine defends the right cause, and that's why they receive our support in all ways, not only in sending materials, but also in training Ukrainian combatants. Spain's position is clear and decisive support, as well as that of all NATO and European Union countries. Our commitment is total and absolute," said Robles.
In addition, Spain will provide Ukraine with a Role 2 plus hospital. It is capable of supporting a brigade and includes emergency surgery and stabilization, laboratory and pharmaceutical services that can be deployed in 12 containers. Before the delivery, training in Spain is planned for Ukrainian servicemen.
It should be noted that Spain supports Ukraine after the full-scale invasion of Russia on February 24, 2022.
In mid-September, Spain sent five planes with ammunition for large-caliber artillery systems to Ukraine.
On October 13, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg announced that Spain had announced the transfer of four Hawk air defense systems. On November 10, the head of the Spanish Ministry of Defense, Margarita Robles, announced that Spain would send two more Hawk air defense systems to Ukraine.
In early December, Robles visited Odesa and announced a new aid package for Ukraine. Following the meeting with Robles, the head of the Ministry of Defense, Oleksiy Reznikov, announced that Spain had provided Ukraine with the first Hawk systems.
