Ukraine has established the location of the captured defenders who are being held on the territory of Hungary. We are talking about 11 of our servicemen.

This was stated by Oleg Kotenko, the Commissioner for Missing Persons.

"Thanks to the coordinated work of the commissioner's team, it was established that 11 defenders of Ukraine, who were held by the aggressor country as prisoners of war, are currently on the territory of Hungary," Kotenko said.

According to him, the names of our heroes, the route of their movement to Hungary have been established, their relatives and relevant law enforcement agencies have been notified.

"It should be noted that until now there was no information about 7 out of 11 of our citizens, whose place of detention was established," Kotenko noted.

He added that until the return of our defenders to the territory of Ukraine, they continue to be considered missing under special circumstances in the Unified Register of persons who have disappeared under special circumstances.

Russia handed over Ukrainian prisoners of war to Hungary

It will be recalled that earlier it became known that the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) wants to hand over part of the Ukrainian prisoners to Hungary, and this decision was not agreed with Ukraine.

Previously, it was about at least 11 Ukrainian prisoners of war.

Thus, on June 8, the press service of the Russian Orthodox Church published a message that this "transfer took place at the request of the Hungarian side." At the same time, they did not specify the number of captured Ukrainians. Later, Hungary confirmed the transfer of prisoners from Russia.

The GUR of the Ministry of Defense immediately responded to this. They said that there is no confirmation of this information yet and it is being clarified. In particular, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine contacted Hungarian colleagues on this issue.

Later it became known that the Hungarian ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine due to the fact that the Russian Orthodox Church handed over a group of Ukrainian prisoners of war to the country without consent.
