The USA provided financial assistance to Ukrainians who suffered from flooding after the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP

The USA provided financial assistance to Ukrainians from a number of settlements that were flooded as a result of the Russians undermining the Kakhovskaya HPP.

This is reported by the US Embassy in Ukraine.

It is noted that in the first hours after the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP, humanitarian and emergency teams of USAID (US Agency for International Development) and the US Embassy in Kyiv began providing immediate evacuation assistance and humanitarian assistance to civilians.

So far, American partners have provided the following assistance:

Cash assistance: 22.5 million hryvnias (approximately $608,000) have been provided to more than 1,000 households. This group will receive 2,200 hryvnias ($60) per person for three months, covering up to five people per household in the affected areas.

Food: hot food was distributed to 7,000 people in Kherson and Mykolaiv, it is planned to provide additional food in the coming days.

Water: Drinking water has been provided to more than 14,000 people and will continue to be provided. The US is also going to hand over water filtration systems and water storage tanks for communities in the Kherson and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Fuel: More than 10,000 liters of fuel were provided to support water rescue operations and the distribution of emergency aid.

Evacuation: Buses provided to support government evacuation efforts. Boats are also provided to support rescue efforts.

Additional assistance: teams have been deployed to support evacuee children at train stations, in transit and at reception stations. More than 17,850 other relief items were also distributed, including hygiene kits and bed linen.

Recovery efforts: The US government is working to supply pumps for the city of Kherson's critical infrastructure.

It is emphasized that the US will continue to provide important assistance. The country is already beginning to assess how much it can contribute to long-term recovery efforts.

Thus, the US has already provided more than $1.6 billion in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and the partnership and supply stocks allowed it to quickly respond to the flooding of regions due to the detonation of hydroelectric power stations.

 Undermining Kakhovskaya HPP

After the Russians blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP on June 6, dozens of settlements were flooded in the Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhya, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

The Kherson region suffered the most, namely the left bank of the Dnieper, which is still under Russian occupation.

It should be noted that Ukrainian rescuers have already evacuated more than 2,000 residents from the right bank. At the same time, the Russians do not help the population in the flooded areas and do not allow them to evacuate.

However, today Ukraine and the UN agreed on evacuation from the occupied Left Bank. Now they are waiting for access from Russia.

Let's add that nine people have already died due to flooding in occupied Oleshki, and one victim is known in Vasylivka, Mykolaiv region.
