NATO countries will not introduce troops into the territory of Ukraine until the end of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, on the broadcast of the "Breakfast with 1+1" program on June 8, commenting on the statements of the former NATO Secretary General.
"Until the end of the armed conflict on the territory of Ukraine, foreign countries will not introduce their troops into the territory of our state. Moreover, we are not asking for this. We are saying: give weapons," Kuleba said.
The minister emphasized that after Ukraine becomes a member of the Alliance, Ukrainian brigades will stand in other NATO countries and protect them.
Kuleba also added that Ukraine's membership in NATO cannot end this war, but it will prevent new wars.
It will be recalled that the former Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Anders Fogh Rasmussen believes that, as part of the discussion on future security guarantees for Ukraine, individual NATO members may agree to the introduction of their troops into Ukrainian territory.
According to Rasmussen, if NATO cannot decide on steps regarding Ukraine's membership or its security guarantee at the summit in Vilnius, "there is a clear possibility that some countries may take measures individually."
