The British special services establish the details of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP. This was stated by the country's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, adding that the special services should find out who exactly is behind the detonation of the dam, writes Sky News.
"If it is proven that this happened on purpose, it will be, I think, the biggest attack on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine since the beginning of the war and will simply demonstrate the new lows that we would see from Russian aggression," Sunak told reporters at a briefing.
He also reported that Great Britain immediately reacted to this attack by offering humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
"We have already allocated resources and funding to support both the UN and the Red Cross in responding to situations like this. And now they can redirect resources to, in particular, help the humanitarian response and evacuation in the area," added the Prime Minister .
On June 6, 2023, around 3:00 a.m., the Russian military blew up the dam of the Kakhovskaya HPP in the Kherson region. Due to the explosion, the Kakhovskaya HPP was completely destroyed and cannot be restored. There is also an additional threat to the Zaporizhzhya NPP, but the situation is under control, Energoatom noted.
