Ukraine is ready for a counteroffensive, but the struggle will be long - General Milli

The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Army, General Mark Milley, said that fighting on the territory of Ukraine has intensified recently.

He said this in an interview with the Associated Press.

"Activity is observed throughout the territory of Ukraine occupied by Russia, and the hostilities have somewhat intensified," Milli said.

He said that, according to the US, the Ukrainian military is well prepared "for everything they do - choosing to fight offensively or defensively."

Milli added that the fight will not be easy and will last a long time.

"There will be days when you see a lot of activity and there will be days where there will be very little activity. There will be offensive actions and defensive actions. So it will be a two-way battle for a long time," he said.

Milli emphasized that the training and weapons provided by the allies have well prepared the Ukrainian military for counterattacks.

"I think they're ready to do what they think they need to do, regardless of the type of operation they're doing," he said.

Earlier, Milli said that Ukraine "prepared very well" for the counteroffensive, but it is still "too early to talk about the results."

As reported, the United States believes that, together with its allies, it has adequately provided Ukraine with military assistance for a counteroffensive.
