As a result of the explosion of the Kakhovskaya HPP in the Kherson region, there are risks of flooding the Kherson thermal power plant. This was announced today, June 6, by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
There are already 12,000 residents in the "Island" district without electricity in the city. In addition, the city may have problems with water supply in the region, the press service reported.
In general, the energy system of the country works stably, the Ministry of Energy said.
"The produced electricity is sufficient to cover the needs of consumers," the statement said.
We will remind, on the morning of June 6, the operational command "South" reported about Russians undermining the Kakhovska HPP. The scale of the destruction is being clarified.
As a result of the detonation of the engine room from the inside, the Kakhovskaya HPP was completely destroyed, the station cannot be restored, the press service of "Ukrhydroenergo" stated.
The water level in the Kakhovsky Reservoir is falling by almost 15 cm/hour, said Serhiy Lysak, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk OV. "Ukrhydroenergo" predicts that the Kakhov reservoir will be operational (that is, the water in it will drop to a level lower than the hydroelectric power station) in four days.
According to RMA, about 16,000 people were in the critical zone on the right bank of the Kherson region.
Undermining the Kakhovska HPP threatens to flood 80 settlements, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, held a meeting of the National Security Council due to the Russian occupiers' detonation of the Kakhovskaya HPP.
