US President Joe Biden's administration has had three key priorities over the past 15 months, one of which is to prevent World War III.
This was said at the briefing by the coordinator of strategic communication of the US National Security Council, John Kirby.
Kirby called support for Ukraine one of his priorities, recalling the announced new military aid package.
The second priority, according to Kirby, is the support of US NATO allies. He noted that the American side has increased its presence to 100,000 military personnel in Europe in order to guarantee the fulfillment of obligations to NATO's eastern flank.
"And the third is to avoid the Third World War... I think we can all agree that a war that actually involves the West, NATO and the United States is not only not in the interests of our national security, but also not in the interests of Ukraine "of the people. This is not good for people all over Europe. It's certainly not good for the Russian people," Kirby added.
Earlier, the head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin, stated that it is important to prevent the involvement of the USA and NATO in a full-scale war in Ukraine, but emphasized that Kyiv's support will last as long as necessary.
