Moldova extended the state of emergency for another two months

The Parliament of Moldova voted to extend the state of emergency from June 4 for another 60 days. Such measures are connected with Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine.

 This is reported by NewsMaker.

As Prime Minister Dorin Rechan stated at the parliament session, the need to extend the regime is due to the ongoing risks and threats aimed at the country's national security and energy supply.

"The request to extend the state of emergency is motivated. We have to do it again. There is a war going on near our border," he said.

Moldovan parliamentarians approved the extension of the National Assembly, approving the corresponding proposal of the government, with 58 votes in favor. The initiative was supported only by deputies from the Action and Solidarity party (PAS).

We will remind you that a state of emergency was introduced in the country at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and now it is constantly being continued.

During the National Emergency, according to the country's legislation, the authorities have the right to:

introduction of a special regime of entry and exit to/from the country

may establish a special mode of airspace use

establish a special mode of movement in Moldova

to extradite people whose presence could be dangerous for the security of the country

temporarily evacuate citizens from dangerous areas, create temporary accommodation for evacuated citizens

establish a special mode of operation for economic agents and state institutions

 prohibit gatherings and demonstrations

prohibit the creation of paramilitary organizations

have the right, if necessary, to rationalize the consumption of food products and basic necessities

can, if necessary, temporarily suspend the supply of gas and electricity, drinking water

can make decisions to provide the population with gas and electricity

to coordinate the work of mass media in order to properly inform the population, to implement measures to combat fake news

 prohibit the dismissal of employees

to change the procedure for the resignation of the management of economic agents and state institutions

to involve citizens in work for the benefit of society

requisition property to deal with the consequences of the situation that caused the declaration of a state of emergency

 protect the infrastructure

 manage the flow of migrants

 take other necessary actions

receive and manage external assistance during emergencies.

It will be recalled that earlier the President of Moldova Travnia Sandu reported that the Russian Federation is trying with all its might to establish a pro-Russian government in Moldova in order to follow the example of Belarus and use the country's territory in the war against Ukraine.

Let us add that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, announced that our intelligence had intercepted a Russian plan to destroy the political situation in Moldova.
