Japan has sent the first two cars that will be transferred to the needs of the Ukrainian military. Others will be sent after passing technical inspection.
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Japan, Serhiy Korsunskyi, reported this on Facebook.
"Today, the Ministry of Defense of Japan held a ceremony of handing over 100 cars and 30,000 ready-made food rations for the needs of the Armed Forces to Ukraine," the message reads.
It is noted that the first two cars are already on their way to Ukraine, the others will be sent after passing technical inspection and necessary preparation.
"For the first time in the post-war history of Japan, the Self-Defense Forces are handing over military equipment to a belligerent country. There will be more," wrote the Ukrainian ambassador.
Help from Japan
Earlier, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced the transfer of about 100 trucks and rations for the Armed Forces to Ukraine.
Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov asked Japan to provide equipment to jam Russian drones and improve the protection of civilian infrastructure.
Back in March, the first proposals to change legislation in the field of military aid supplies to countries at war were heard in the Japanese parliament.
