Zelenskyi conducted the Stavka: they took up the concept of aviation development with the transition to new aircraft

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, announced that on Tuesday he held another meeting of the Headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, where they started work on the concept of the development of Ukrainian aviation, taking into account the transition to new types of aircraft.

"Chergova Stavka. The operational situation was reported by the Chief of Staff, the General Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the commanders of the Khortytsia and Tavria air defense systems. They heard from the Ministry of Defense about the state of supply of ammunition to advanced units and reserves. They analyzed existing and potential supply contracts and the dynamics of increasing their own production," - Zelenski wrote.

According to him, "we have started work on a comprehensive concept of the development of our aviation, taking into account the transition to new types of aircraft."

"A new organizational structure, pilot and staff training, necessary infrastructure, material and technical support, etc.," the President noted.

The discussion of the new concept is taking place against the background of reports about the possible supply of Western fighter jets to Ukraine in the future. F-16 is being considered as an option.

On May 21, the USA announced the decision to start training Ukrainian pilots for F-16 fighter jets, as well as to allow allies to send these planes to Ukraine. The announcement coincided with the arrival of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi to the G7 summit in Japan and negotiations with Western leaders, including US President Joe Biden.
