The head of the government of Georgia, Iraklii Garibashvili, said that he does not see sufficient efforts on the part of the international community to create conditions that would allow for peace negotiations regarding Ukraine.
Garibashvili said this at a panel discussion at the Qatar Economic Forum.
When asked if he was surprised that "Ukraine has lasted so long," the prime minister said that, in his estimation, everyone is surprised, and he sees no signs that the war will end soon.
"I think everyone is surprised. I don't see any signs that this war will end soon. It's a problem, but we don't see enough efforts by the international community to take the right steps to hold peace talks," the Georgian prime minister said.
He emphasized that "Europe has not seen a challenge of this scale since the Second World War, and therefore this war affects us all."
"But I want to remind you that there was a war in Georgia in 2008 and we know exactly what war means. From the day this war started, today we already know that 20% of Ukraine is occupied by Russia, this is today's status quo. What will happen tomorrow, I I don't know, I can't say, I think no one knows," said Garibashvili.
It will be recalled that in May, Georgia, which did not support sanctions against the Russian Federation in connection with the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, resumed direct air traffic with Russia.
In addition, despite the assurances of the Georgian authorities, a Russian airline flying to the annexed Crimea received flight permits.
