The Seimas of Lithuania are discussing the renaming of Russia to Muscovy

The Future Committee in the Lithuanian Seimas is starting a discussion on the possible renaming of Russia to Muscovy in the Lithuanian language.

This was stated by the head of the committee, Raimundas Lopata, Verslo Zinios reports.

"We call Russia Russia because it calls itself that. Taking into account the historical context of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, we will seek a more acceptable and accurate assessment of the country's historical role for Lithuania and the West than the Great Russian narrative rooted in Western consciousness. Accordingly, we will clarify how it is better to call the country that we traditionally call Russia: should it be called Russia, or Muscovy, or something else," Lopata said.
