British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace has said there is a possibility of a larger global conflict before the end of the decade.
Wallace's statement is cited by the Financial Times.
In this regard, the head of the British Ministry of Defense called for the development of a clear schedule for increasing military spending to 2.5% of GDP.
"By the end of the decade, the world will be a more dangerous and unstable place, and defense will be more important to our lives," he said.
Wallace talked about the risk of a wider conflict with Russia following its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, as well as the threat posed by the "rise of China" and the spread of extremism in Africa.
According to him, the world is currently experiencing "the end of the abnormal period after the Cold War".
"I think a conflict is coming, whether it will be hot or cold, we'll see..." I think a conflict is coming with a number of adversaries around the world... We all need to be ready for it," the British minister emphasized .
