The register of damages from Russia's aggression should be: signed a political declaration

As part of the summit of the Council of Europe, they signed a political declaration on the creation of a register of damages caused by Russia's aggression against Ukraine, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said.

"A political declaration was just signed in Reykjavík on the creation of a Register of Damages Caused by Russia's Aggression Against Ukraine. Thank you to the Council of Europe and all the member states that supported this landmark decision at a high level," Shmyhal wrote in Telegram.

According to him, the registry is an important stage on the way to justice and compensation for Ukraine and Ukrainians for the damages that Russia caused with its brutal war. Currently, it is necessary to directly ensure the work of the Register so that victims of Russian aggression can submit their applications, the Prime Minister said.

"Our goal is to create a comprehensive compensation mechanism that will ensure that Russia pays full compensation to Ukraine in accordance with international law. In particular, at the expense of Russian assets in the world. We are moving towards the goal together with our partners," Shmyhal commented on the next steps.

Shmyhal noted that after the expected creation of the Register of Damages from the War of Russia against Ukraine, it will be necessary to create a Compensation Commission and a Compensation Fund. This should allow starting the process of compensation for damages to all those who suffered from Russia's aggression.
