Investigators from France arrived in Ukraine to investigate the death of AFP journalist Arman Soldin during a Russian missile attack near Hodinny Yar in Donetsk region.

The head of the office of the international human rights organization "Reporters Without Borders" in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Zhanna Cavelier, reported this in a comment to "Ukrinform".

She recalled that the French prosecutor's office had started an investigation into Soldin's death in the war in Ukraine, and noted that the case was progressing quite quickly.

"We are in contact with the French side. They are cooperating with the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. We know that yesterday (May 14. - Ed.) four investigators arrived from France and started collecting evidence," Cavelier said.

The head of the office added that Reporters Without Borders pays a lot of attention to this case, because the murder of a journalist is not only a war crime against a civilian.

"Journalists perform a social function - to provide reliable information for society, and Arman Soldin did it professionally," she said.

The French National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the death of AFP video journalist Soldin.

32-year-old Soldin was killed on Tuesday, May 9, during a rocket attack from the "Grad" systems on the outskirts of the city of Chasiv Yar
