On Monday, Polish President Andrzej Duda will talk with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg about the missile that fell near Bydgoszcz.
This was stated by the head of the Bureau of International Policy under the President of Poland, Marcin Pshidach, RMF FM reports.
"Today the president will talk to the Secretary General of NATO, we are also in contact with our American allies, we will talk about this situation," Pshidach said, referring to the situation surrounding the Russian X-55 missile found near Bydgoszcz.
It is not yet known what exactly Duda will discuss with Stoltenberg. It is also still unclear what the NATO allies know about the incident. The Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army, General Raymund Andrzejczak, recently admitted that the topic of the Russian missile was not discussed at the last meeting of the chiefs of staff of 31 NATO countries.
Pshidach says that further conclusions on this matter are expected to lead to the formulation of "an appropriate diplomatic response in the eastern direction". Before that, however, it is necessary to establish exactly where the missile came from and why it entered the territory of a state that does not participate in any military operations, he explained.
On April 27, the Ministry of Defense reported that the remains of an unidentified military facility were found in Zamost, approximately 15 km from Bydgoszcz. It was emphasized that the situation does not threaten the safety of residents. The District Prosecutor's Office in Gdańsk has started an investigation into this case.
A day later, the operational commander, Lieutenant General Tomas Petrovsky, announced that an "intensive investigation" was being conducted in the case. As he noted, the goal is to establish how the rocket could get there, as well as its origin. General Petrovskyi also recalled the events of mid-December last year, when the Russians carried out one of their massive air attacks on Ukraine, and pointed to attempts at psychological influence by Russia.
