The government of the South African Republic declares that they did not give permission for any export of weapons to the Russian Federation.
This is reported by Reuters.
Communications Minister Mondi Gumbulele, who chaired the National Convention Arms Control Committee (NCACC) at the time of the possible arms shipment (in December 2022), said that if there were indeed any cases of weapons being loaded onto a ship that was supposed to be heading from the country to Russia , it was illegal.
"We have not approved any arms deliveries to Russia," he said on radio.
A representative of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation Clayson Monyela also said on his Twitter that the NCACC "has no information about the approved sale of arms by our state to Russia" during that period.
