In an interview with Bild, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba called on Germany to take an "active role" in creating a coalition of states and to persuade the United States to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets.
"Germany is lucky because the F-16 is not Leopard, it is not German technology. Unlike the case with Leopard, Germany is not the one pushing the green button. It is the United States. So we expect Germany to play an active role in creating a coalition of states. Who will convince the United States to press the green button?" Kuleba said.
The minister emphasized that Germany can make a significant contribution to the issue of providing fighter jets to Ukraine, adding that "the quality of German diplomacy should not be underestimated." Kuleba continued that if Berlin sends MIGs to Kyiv, it will "help, but not solve" the problem.
"It's not about the number of planes, it's about their quality... There are different types of fighters on the market, but by all accounts the F-16 is the best. So let's focus on the F-16," he concluded.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba on Twitter once again called on international partners to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets against the backdrop of a massive Russian cruise missile attack on the night of May 9.
