The Pentagon officially confirmed that Ukraine shot down the Russian Kinzhal missile using the Patriot system. CNN writes about it.
The representative of the Pentagon, General Pat Ryder, said that the Ukrainian military shot down the Russian Kinzhal missile with the help of the Patriot missile defense system.
"I can confirm that they shot down a Russian missile using the Patriot missile defense system. As you know, this system is part of a broader array of air defense capabilities that the United States and the international community have provided to Ukraine," Ryder said.
He added that the US and its partners will continue to "increase the supply of ground-based air defenses and munitions to help Ukraine control its sovereign skies and help the country protect its citizens from Russia."
We will remind that in the sky over Ukraine on the night of May 4, the Russian "Kinzhal" missile was shot down for the first time.
Initially, representatives of the Air Force did not comment on the information published by the Kyiv City Military Administration and some mass media citing their own sources. However, on May 6, the Air Force officially confirmed the destruction of this missile using the Patriot system.
