The Russian ambassador in Warsaw, Serhii Andreyev, was summoned to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs due to the statement of the former Russian ombudsman for children's rights, Pavlo Astakhov, calling for the murder of the Polish ambassador in Moscow.
This was announced by the spokesman of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lukasz Jasina.
"On May 5, Ambassador Serhiy Andreev was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The representative of Russia was handed a note of protest regarding the statement of the former Russian Ombudsman for Children, Pavlo Astakhov, about calls to kill the Polish ambassador in Moscow," Yasina said on Twitter.
He added that the Polish side has strongly protested the current situation and hopes for the immediate initiation of a criminal case and the immediate punishment of the guilty party.
Last week, the former children's ombudsman of the Russian Federation, Pavlo Astakhov, said on Russian state television that the killing of ambassadors is "within the framework of international law", referring directly to the Polish ambassador.
In the show, Astakhov recalled how the Russian ambassador to Poland, Sergey Andreev, was doused with red paint last year. In this regard, Astakhov expressed surprise as to why the Polish ambassador to Russia "has not yet been found floating in the Moscow River."
In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland condemned Astakhov's statement.
Meanwhile, Poland has no intention of recalling its diplomats from Russia.
On Saturday, Warsaw, in agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took possession of the building where the secondary school of the Russian Embassy was located.
In this regard, on May 2, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the temporary charge d'affaires of Poland, who was threatened with retaliation.
