The US Embassy issued a statement on military cooperation with Georgia in 2023. As noted in the embassy statement, the US and Georgia jointly decided that resources should be directed to the country's domestic, multinational training.

"The United States remains committed to deepening the strategic partnership between the United States and Georgia and continues to work together to make both countries safer and more secure. In 2023, the United States and Georgia continue to carry out a wide range of joint military activities. This year, the United States and Georgia are jointly focused on maximizing mutually beneficial exercises to strengthen Georgia's critical capabilities. As part of this effort, we have jointly decided to direct resources to the country's domestic, multinational exercises: Agile Spirit and Noble Partner and, based on their past successes, to strengthen Georgia's interoperability, resilience and defense capabilities as effectively as possible," the US Embassy statement said, " InterpressNews".

On the eve of May 2, the Ministry of Defense of Georgia issued a statement regarding the participation of the Georgian Defense Forces in the multinational exercises "Defender 2023", organized by the US European Command.

As the department stated, explaining the widespread reports about Georgia's non-participation in "Defender 2023", based on the goals and objectives of the Defense Forces, with active communication with the main strategic partner and their recommendations, it was decided to direct more efforts and resources to such international and local exercises that increasing combat readiness, increasing mutual compatibility with NATO member countries and partners, sharing experience and improving professional skills are taken into account to a greater extent.
