The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, met with the speakers of both houses of the Parliament of the Netherlands, whom he thanked for their support and emphasized the importance of starting negotiations on joining the EU and preparing for the Vilnius NATO summit by the end of this year, the Office of the President writes.

 During the official visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands Vera Bergkamp and the Speaker of the Senate Jan Anthony Brown.

 The head of state thanked the leaders of the Dutch parliament for the clear and active position of the legislative body in support of Ukraine and the important steps that helped our country repel Russian aggression.

 "Today, the Netherlands is among the leaders in supporting Ukraine and one of our key allies in protecting the values of freedom," he emphasized.

 Volodymyr Zelenskyі praised the adoption of a number of resolutions in support of Ukraine by the Dutch parliament, in particular, the country's leadership in the international prosecution of Russia's crimes in Ukraine and the establishment of a special tribunal in The Hague, which will be able to condemn the highest leadership of Russia.

 "The President expressed special thanks to the Parliament of the Netherlands for their support in granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership and noted that our country is doing everything possible to complete the implementation of the recommendations of the European Commission regarding the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union and is counting on a positive assessment of these efforts. He emphasized the importance of the start of negotiations on joining the EU by the end of the current year. Volodymyr Zelenskyi separately emphasized the preparation for the Vilnius NATO summit, stressing the importance of making specific decisions at the summit regarding Ukraine's membership in the Alliance and providing security guarantees to our state until the moment of accession to NATO." - the press service of the Office of the President reports.
