Israeli specialists intend to conduct training of Ukrainian medics on the rehabilitation of servicemen who were injured on the battlefield. In an interview with UNN, Israel's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Michael Brodsky said that at this stage the program is at the stage of discussion. He added that the more trained rehabilitators will work in the field, the faster and more efficient the recovery of the military will be.

"We are now checking the possibility of rehabilitation in Ukraine, in the training of Ukrainian rehabilitators and doctors. The idea is to train them either in Israel or in Ukraine so that they can continue to work here in Ukraine. It seems to me that it is wrong to count only on the fact that we can bring to Israel people who need prosthetics and rehabilitation. The number of people is small. And this is a very expensive project. It would be more correct to establish the possibility of both prosthetics and rehabilitation here," the diplomat emphasized.

Israel was able to receive 20 servicemen for prosthetics and rehabilitation. Brodsky notes that almost all of them have already returned to Ukraine. Given the fact that the project is expensive, and the state cannot accept a large number of military personnel for treatment, it is more rational to train Ukrainian doctors who would be able to provide assistance on the ground.

According to Brodsky, many initiatives have appeared in the field of health care for the accelerated recovery of a large number of wounded. In particular, several rehabilitation centers have already started operating in Ukraine. The diplomat also adds that the Israeli side, together with the Kyiv City State Administration, is discussing the creation of more rehabilitation centers in Ukraine with the help of Israeli experience. Also, on May 30, a conference to discuss this issue will be held in Lviv, organized by the Embassy of Israel in Ukraine.

Speaking about the program for receiving cancer patients for treatment in Israel, the ambassador said that the country was able to receive 15 children with a severe form of cancer. At the moment, the project has ended due to a limited budget. At the same time, there are several programs financed by private donors and foundations.

"So far, there are no plans to continue the program, because everything rests on the budget. There are several programs funded by private donors and foundations. These programs will continue and the treatment of Ukrainian children will continue, but with the money of sponsors and donors," he added.
