European law enforcement officers are continuing a large-scale joint special operation against possible members of the Italian mafia clan "Ndrangheta", have already detained more than a hundred people.
This is reported by Politico.
The raids are taking place, as already mentioned, in Italy and Germany, as well as in France, Belgium, Spain and Portugal.
In Italy, in the region of Calabria, which is considered the "stronghold" of the clan, 108 people suspected of involvement in the "Ndrangheta" and crimes related to the smuggling of weapons and drugs have been detained.
In Germany, raids were conducted at dozens of addresses in five federal states, and more than 30 arrests are known.
The Belgian prosecutor's office announces searches at 20 addresses.
The special operation was the result of a joint investigation by the European agencies Europol and Eurojust with the participation of hundreds of law enforcement officers of the six mentioned countries.
The Italian clan "Ndrangheta" is considered one of the most powerful criminal networks in Italy and Europe in general.
