The Security Service of Ukraine informed that it had informed about the suspicion of the former head of security of ex-president Viktor Yanukovych.
"Investigators of the Security Service have gathered evidence on another former top official who is hiding from justice on the territory of the aggressor country. It is about Vyacheslav Zanevsky, the former head of the security of the fugitive president Viktor Yanukovych," the SBU said.
As the SSU noted, "after the capture of Kherson and part of the Mykolaiv region, he helped the invaders spread the Kremlin regime and suppress the resistance movement."
According to the investigation, in July of last year, Zanevsky was betrayed by his son, who was part of the occupation groups of Russia in the temporarily occupied part of the south of Ukraine. Then he turned to his father with a request to assist the Russian punitive authorities in identifying local Ukrainian patriots, in particular participants of the ATO and veterans of the Armed Forces, the SBU reported.
"In response to this, Zanevsky contacted his son with two of his acquaintances - the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Security Service created by the aggressor in the temporarily occupied Kherson region," the special service noted.
Later, as reported, they gave the Russian invaders personal data about local residents and facilitated the kidnapping of people.
"Zanevsky also advised the military units of the aggressor country on the tactics of conducting hostilities against the Defense Forces," the SBU reported.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service notified the suspect of suspicion under Part 1 of Art. 111-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (assistance to the aggressor state). Complex measures to bring him to justice are continuing.
In Ukraine, ex-president Viktor Yanukovych and his main bodyguard will be tried in absentia for inciting desertion and organizing illegal crossing of the state border.
