The Russians filed a case against the deported Ukrainian 14-year-old girl in order not to return the teenager to Ukraine. On April 29, Dmytro Lubynets, the representative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on human rights, told about this on the air of the telethon, the video was published on his Telegram channel.

"Just think about the cynicism: the mother is in Ukraine, the mother is looking for her child, and the Russians, knowing this, are inventing some kind of court case just in order not to hand over the Ukrainian girl," he said.

Lubynets believes that the UN should not only express deep concern, but also create an effective mechanism for the return home of Ukrainian children. In particular, a special mission that would go and take Ukrainian children from the territory of the aggressor country.

"If Russia does not allow this mission, then it is time to raise the issue of Russia's exclusion from at least the UN Security Council, at most - from the ranks of this organization [UN]," the ombudsman concluded.

It should be noted that according to various sources, Russia has deported at least 19,400 children from Ukraine since February 24, 2022. 361 children managed to return to Ukraine, another 401 are considered missing.

At the same time, the children's ombudsman of Ukraine, Darya Gerasimchuk, stated that since part of the territory of Ukraine is under occupation and the authorities do not have access there, the number of children abducted by Russia may reach several hundred thousand.

On March 17, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and Maria Lvova-Belova, the Russian President's Commissioner for Children's Rights. They are suspected of illegally deporting children from the occupied regions of Ukraine to Russia.

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin stated at a meeting with Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Dunei Miyatovych that Ukrainian children are taken to both the territory of Russia and Belarus. This was reported on the website of the Prosecutor General's Office.

On April 27, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted a resolution calling the deportation of Ukrainian children genocide.
