The ceasefire in Sudan was extended for another 72 hours

The parties to the armed conflict in Sudan agreed to extend the ceasefire for another 72 hours.

This is reported by Sky News, Ukrinform reports.

The truce was supposed to end at midnight on Sunday, April 30. The special forces of RSF announced its extension for another three days.

According to the BBC, the first large flight with medical aid arrived in Sudan on the last day of April. The International Committee of the Red Cross said a plane carrying 8 tonnes of aid, including hospital kits, had landed in Port Sudan.

More than 70% of medical facilities in the capital of Sudan were forced to close due to hostilities.

It will be recalled that on April 15, after several days of tension between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Response Force (RSF), explosions and shooting rang out in Khartoum. The controversy centers around the country's proposed transition to civilian rule.

Hundreds of people, including at least 400 civilians, died as a result of hostilities in the country.

Fighting in the country continues, a number of European countries are making efforts to evacuate their citizens from Sudan.
