The European Commission and Poland reached an agreement on banning the import of five agricultural products from Ukraine.
This was announced by the Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, RMF FM reports.
"We finally agreed with the EU on banning the import of those agricultural products that led to destabilization on the Polish market. This mainly concerns cereals and corn," he said.
The agreement includes the obligation of Poland and other countries to abandon the unilateral blocking of food imports from Ukraine. These bans will be replaced by restrictions on the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed, sunflower and sunflower oil.
The ban on the import of these five goods constitutes 90% of all imports from Ukraine.
Instead of expanding the list by banning the import of products such as milk, poultry or eggs, the European Commission will conduct a further investigation. If, in her opinion, the problem is confirmed, the protective clause will be triggered. It means the introduction of customs duties.
In addition, the European Commission will allocate 100 million euros to support farmers in five countries, from which Poland will receive almost 40 million euros.
We will remind, earlier it became known that Poland completely banned the import of grain from Ukraine.
Later, Ukrainian and Polish officials managed to agree on the transit of grain.
However, Poland recently announced its intention to maintain the ban on grain from Ukraine until the end of 2023.
