Ukraine is gathering evidence of Russian war crimes through geolocation and information from mobile phones together with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation and American companies.
This is reported by Reuters.
Ukrainian authorities have been collecting digital information from battlefields and war-torn Ukrainian cities since Russia invaded the country last February, said Alex Kobzanets, an FBI special agent who previously served as the agency's legal attaché in Ukraine.
"Collecting that data, analyzing that data, working with it is something that the FBI has expertise in," Kobzanets said at the RSA Cyber Security Conference in San Francisco.
This work, he said, includes studying information from cell phones, forensic analysis of DNA samples, and analysis of body parts collected from battlefields.
"The next step will be to work with US national providers and transfer this information... obtaining information about subscribers, obtaining geolocation information where possible," Kobzanets added.
