Kremlin spokesman Peskov's son says he served in Ukraine

Mykola Peskov, the son of the press secretary of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, said in an interview with the Russian mass media that he decided to serve in Ukraine in the Russian mercenaries "Wagner", according to CNN.

"I considered it my duty... I could not sit aside and watch my friends and other people go there," Peskov said in an interview with the Russian Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper.

"When I went there, I had to change my last name. Nobody really knew who I was."

According to him, he served for almost six months and received the medal "For bravery".

CNN was unable to independently verify these claims.

Children of government officials and the Russian elite have been criticized in the past for not being able to fight in Ukraine.

According to Prigozhin, Mykola Peskov served for half a year in the "Wagner" PMC under false documents under a different name, working as a loader of an ammunition delivery vehicle. The head of "Wagner" reported that Peskov underwent a three-week training at their base in Molkino, and then "went to Luhansk."
