The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, expressed his disappointment that the launch of the EU decision on the joint procurement of ammunition for Ukraine is still delayed due to disputes among member states.
He published a short comment on his Twitter.
Kuleba noted that this situation is a test of the unity of the European Union in important decisions, and Ukraine pays for all delays with human lives.
"The inability of the EU to implement its own decision on the joint purchase of ammunition for Ukraine is puzzling. This is a test of whether the EU has strategic autonomy in making new important security decisions. And for Ukraine, the price of inaction is measured in human lives," said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
We will remind you that although the European Union has already approved the general procurement scheme and allocated 2 billion euros for it, member states continue to argue about some details - in particular, to what extent these contracts should be limited to manufacturers from the EU and whether companies from the USA and Great Britain should be included in the program.
Citing sources in diplomatic circles, Politico reported that France and Poland had a dispute on Wednesday when EU ambassadors failed to resolve a dispute over joint EU contracts for the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine.
