On Wednesday, April 19, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyі made a working trip to the Volyn region and visited the border area where the borders of Ukraine, Poland and Belarus meet.

 The president also inspected the observation post and the two-level trench system on the border. From the position of the observation post, it was demonstrated how round-the-clock surveillance of the border line is carried out with the help of remote video surveillance systems. He was also shown the detection systems of unmanned aerial vehicles.

 As the border guards reported to Zelenskyi, in order to ensure reliable protection of the Ukrainian border and readiness to repel a possible enemy invasion from the territory of Belarus, engineering barriers, fortifications and setting up remote video surveillance systems are being built.

 The President talked with the soldiers of the State Border Service of Ukraine and presented them with awards.

 "I have the honor to be here today, to congratulate you, to thank you for protecting the state border. I want to talk about the border, being right here, in Volyn, near the border of Ukraine with Belarus and Poland. You are heroic and strong people. I want to thank you for protecting our state in Bakhmut. I know how firmly you stood there, holding Bakhmut," Zelenskyi said.

 In addition, Volodymyr Zelenskyi held a meeting during his visit to the border region.

 "There are many important issues: arrangement and protection of the state border, socio-economic and current security situation in the region, arrangement of fortification and defense engineering structures," the president said.

 He also familiarized himself with the situation in the area of ​​responsibility of the operational group of troops "Volyn" and the readiness of military units to perform tasks, as well as measures to strengthen the state border within the Volyn region.
