The Russian court rejected the appeal and kept the WSJ journalist in pretrial detention

The Moscow City Court did not satisfy the appeal of the lawyers of the American journalist of The Wall Street Journal, Evan Hershkovich, whom Russia allegedly accuses of "espionage". He will continue to be held in the "Lefortovo" pre-trial detention center.

 This is reported by "Mediazona".

Note that the court session was closed. The journalists who came could see the broadcast only at the moment when the decision was announced by the judge.

It will be recalled that at the end of March Hershkovich was detained in Yekaterinburg and accused of alleged "espionage". The US State Department declared Hershkovich "unlawfully detained" by Russia.

Bloomberg reported that Russian dictator Putin personally approved Hershkovich's arrest.
