169 generators provided by the Australian fund Minderoo with a total cost of 1.95 million euros were sent to Ukraine, which were delivered through the rescEU energy hub in Poland.
This is reported by the press service of the European Commission.
These generators came in addition to the 1,000 generators previously sent to Ukraine from the rescEU stockpile, which was announced at the opening of the hub earlier this year.
In total, the EU coordinated the provision of around 3,000 generators to Ukraine thanks to donations from Member States, the private sector, third countries and rescEU's own reserves.
At the same time, the EU allocated 114.9 million euros to Poland for the purchase of generators from this EU energy reserve, which is intended not only to support the Ukrainian energy sector, but also to cover the possible needs of other countries affected by the war against Ukraine.
EU-provided generators can provide electricity to individual households, and large models are capable of providing public buildings and vital utilities in Ukraine.
The rescEU energy assistance hub for Ukraine was opened in Poland in January 2023.
