Coronavirus restrictions may be imposed in three regions of Ukraine

Ukraine is in the midst of the coronavirus and flu season. In three regions, the epidemic threshold has been exceeded, and certain restrictions may be imposed. This was stated by the Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Ihor Kuzin during a telethon.

"We have 13 strains of COVID circulating on the territory of Ukraine. Indeed, it is necessary to get vaccinated, given that the situation with the incidence is deteriorating significantly now, given the winter period," Kuzin said.

According to him, among all cases of coronavirus and flu, almost 50% are hospitalized, including many children. In addition, the epidemic threshold has been exceeded in the west and north of Ukraine.

"The epidemic threshold has been exceeded in three regions of Ukraine - Ternopil, Zhytomyr and Chernivtsi regions. The indicators there are already higher than the standard for this period. That is, these regions can already introduce certain restrictive anti-epidemic measures," Kuzin emphasized.

He added that since the beginning of the epidemic season, more than a million Ukrainians have been infected with flu and coronavirus. An average of 4,200 patients are hospitalized per week. According to Kuzin, coronavirus now accounts for up to 35% of all cases.

"The incidence of COVID is also growing, it has increased by 20% over the past week, and it is definitely increasing among children. Both resuscitation and fatal cases are being registered. Over the past week, 56 people died of coronavirus infection, including one child," the chief sanitary doctor said.

It should be noted that the WHO officially canceled the coronavirus pandemic in the world in May 2023. Ukraine has also lifted restrictions and canceled quarantine.
