Hackers from China may be behind the cyber attack on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia

Hackers from China may be behind the latest cyber attack on the servers of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This is reported by the Slovenian 24ur with reference to sources.

According to the publication, the servers were infected with a virus program created by the APT15 group, also known as Vixen Panda, which is believed to be directly linked to the Chinese military.

It was about extremely complex interventions that few hacker groups are capable of - most likely, only those that work with the structures of certain states.

The attacks were systematic and targeted, it seems that the main object of interest were documents somehow related to China and bilateral relations between Slovenia and China. Two servers that "communicated" with servers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in many other European countries were affected.

Since a long time has passed since the first intervention of hackers, it is believed that it will be difficult to discover a weak point in the system that they exploited.

Cyber experts describe the Vixen Panda group as one of the most active and skilled cyber espionage groups.

Last week, a representative of the Slovenian Foreign Ministry said that the attack came from a "third country".
