Last week, Chad expelled the German ambassador for "non-observance of diplomatic customs". In response, the ambassador of Chad in Berlin was called to leave the country within 48 hours, writes Reuters.
Berlin has ordered Chad's ambassador to Germany to leave the country within 48 hours in response to the central African country's move last week, the country's foreign ministry said on Tuesday.
"In response to the unjustified expulsion of our ambassador to Chad, today we summoned the Chadian ambassador to Berlin, Mariam Ali Moussa, and urged her to leave Germany within 48 hours. We regret that it had to come to this," the ministry said.
Last week, the German ambassador to Chad, Gordon Krika, was expelled from the country. Chad's communications ministry said the decision was the result of "a breach of diplomatic custom".
Two Chadian government sources said the exception came because of Crick's criticism of delayed elections and a court ruling that allowed interim military leader Mahamat Idriss Deby to run for political office.
"Ambassador Kricke carried out his post in N'Djamena in an exemplary manner and worked for the protection of human rights and the rapid transition to a civilian government in Chad," the German ministry said.
