Ukraine returned 100 servicemen from Russian captivity. Among them are the defenders of Mariupol, Azovstal and Gostomel.
The head of the Office of the President, Andriy Yermak, reported this on Telegram.
"We managed to conduct another large exchange of prisoners. We are returning home 100 of our people - they are soldiers, sailors, border guards, national guardsmen. Among them are the defenders of Mariupol, Azovstal, Gostomel," he said.
Yermak added that some soldiers were seriously injured and have diseases.
"We will do everything necessary so that each of them receives all the necessary help," he emphasized.
The head of the President's Office added that Ukraine will return all Ukrainian prisoners home.
"I am especially glad to announce the great news about the exchange to the relatives of the people released from captivity. They have been waiting for their husbands, wives, parents at home for a long time. Waiting is always a very difficult and nervous process. Ours are at home. And we will return everyone. Because people are the main value of Ukraine," Yermak emphasized.
The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported that 80 male and 20 female defenders had returned from Russian captivity.
"Among them, nine are officers, the rest are representatives of private and non-commissioned officers. This time, it was possible to free 24 National Guardsmen, 22 border guards, 22 representatives of the Navy, 21 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and 11 soldiers of the Terobotron," the headquarters' message on Telegram reads.
At the same time, it is noted that the discharged soldiers took part in battles in the Kherson, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kyiv, Zaporizhzhya and Sumy directions. Among our heroes are the defenders of Mariupol, Bakhmut and Gostomel, as well as the defenders of Chongar, Zmiiny Island, ZNPP and ChNPP.
"Almost half of the released prisoners have serious injuries, illnesses or have been tortured. The youngest of the released Defenders is 19 years old," the headquarters said.
We remind you that earlier, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that they had returned 106 of their occupants.
