4,396 Ukrainian orphans were illegally taken to Russia and are being held - now an international coalition is being formed for their return to Ukraine.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Iryna Vereshchuk, announced this on the TV channel "Rada".
Vereshchuk, as reported by the Ministry of Reintegration, indicated that "Russia illegally keeps 4,396 orphans in the temporarily occupied territories and illegally took them to Russian territory."
Therefore, the Coordinating Council for the Protection and Safety of Children, chaired by Andriy Yermak, is working on the formation of an international coalition, the task of which will be the return of Ukrainian orphans and the punishment of those guilty of crimes against Ukrainian children.
"In this case, the help of the world community is very important to us. Currently, a pool of international leaders who have expressed their public support for such a coalition is already forming. Among them are Ursula von der Leyen, Mateusz Morawiecki and others. There must also be an intermediary. It can be anyone: International Committee of the Red Cross, UNHCR, UNICEF, etc. I hope that such a platform will start operating soon," Vereshchuk summed up.
We will remind, as early as March 12, Vereshchuk stated that the Russians had illegally taken away 2,161 Ukrainian orphans.
