The Russian Federation continues to spend significant resources in the Donetsk direction, in particular in Maryinka and Avdiyivka, with minimal results.
This is stated in the intelligence review of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain.
According to the department, over the past seven days, Russia has probably increased the number of armored attacks in the area of the city of Maryinka, Donetsk region, located 20 km southwest of Donetsk.
Fighting has been going on for Maryinka since 2014 and it was largely destroyed as a result of artillery shelling. The city provides control over the approaches to Donetsk and the key road H15.
"Russia continues to prioritize resourcing operations in the wider Donetsk sector, including Maryinka and Avdiyivka districts, spending significant resources to achieve minimal results," the review says.
At the end of March, British intelligence reported that Russian forces were suffering significant armor losses while trying to encircle Avdiivka and were not making significant progress there.
