Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky on Wednesday confirmed support for Ukraine's membership in the North Atlantic Alliance, adding that this fact alone will not solve its problems.
As ČTK reports, Lipavsky said this after the meeting of foreign ministers of NATO member countries in Brussels.
"We certainly support Ukraine's aspiration to become a member of NATO. But this is not something that will automatically solve Ukraine's problem," Lipavskyi told reporters.
The head of the Czech Foreign Ministry added that now the NATO member states should focus more on increasing aid to Kyiv, in particular by increasing the funding fund for military equipment and non-lethal equipment.
In September 2022, Ukraine applied for membership in the North Atlantic Alliance and expects to receive new assurances about joining NATO at the upcoming summit in Vilnius.
The day before, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, said that the issue of providing Ukraine with the Action Plan for NATO membership is no longer on the agenda. According to him, Ukraine has submitted an application for membership and is waiting for decisions at the summit in Vilnius that will bring Ukraine closer to NATO membership.
