The Georgian opposition plans to hold a protest on April 9

The head of the "United National Movement" (UND) Levan Khabeishvili announced a protest action in Tbilisi on April 9. According to the leader of the largest opposition party in Georgia, the authorities are given time to show the public that they are beginning to implement the recommendations of the European Commission, which are necessary for Georgia to acquire the status of a candidate for joining the EU.

"After the adoption of the 'Russian law', the harsh crackdown [of protests], after the Georgian people defeated the Russian oligarch and destroyed the myth of his invincibility, the participants of "Russian Dream" began to appear on the air one by one. Iraklii Garibashvili scolded the members of the European Parliament. In fact, they sent a message to the Kremlin that they retreated tactically, and nothing special happened. They have no intention of following the recommendations," he said.

As SOVA writes, Khabeishvili reminded that on March 14, the European Parliament held a meeting at which Georgia was discussed. And in parallel, in Tbilisi, "by order of Irakli Kobakhidze and Bidzina Ivanishvili, their gang formation, the Russian so-called "Alt-info" and, in fact, "Georgian Dream" burned the flag of the European Union. According to him, this was also a clear signal, but it had already been sent to the country's European partners.

"But the Georgian people want to go to Europe, the Georgian people do not want to be a Russian province. We want European security, European peace, European economy, European old age for our mothers, we want European education for our youth. That is why we propose to gather on Rustaveli Avenue on April 9 at 5:00 p.m.," said the leader of END.

Earlier, ex-prime minister Vano Merabishvili said that the opposition plans to start mass protests aimed at changing the government in Georgia to a pro-Western, pro-Ukrainian government.
