The Georgian opposition announced the creation of a register of agents of Russian influence in the country

The largest opposition party of Georgia "United National Movement" will create a registry of agents of Russian influence in the country.

Levan Bezhashvili, head of the party's Politrade, announced this at a briefing, writes "Georgia Online".

According to him, the registry will include all those political leaders who are financed by Russia and whose goal is to strengthen Russian influence in Georgia.

In addition, Bezhashvili called on international partners to introduce sanctions against persons included in this register.

"We call on the embassies of the United States of America and the countries of the European Union in Georgia, the members of parliament who will support the draft law "On transparency of foreign influence", to introduce visa restrictions for them and their family members and to prohibit them from entering the United States and EU member states. , - said Bezhashvili, also calling for financial restrictions against these persons.

We will remind, the other day two scandalous projects were presented in Georgia - "On the transparency of foreign influence" and "On the registration of foreign agents", which public organizations called an attack on freedom of speech and following the example of Russia.

The EU ambassador to Georgia warned that the project "On transparency of foreign influence" contradicts EU principles. The US State Department also expressed concern about the consequences for freedom of expression in Georgia if the proposed law on "foreign agents" is passed. The Council of Europe also urged Georgia to reject both projects.
