British Prime Minister Richie Sunak and French President Emmanuel Macron are expected to agree to cooperate on developing precision strike weapons to counter the Russian threat at a meeting in Paris on Friday.
This was reported in Downing Street.
"As part of the talks, the Prime Minister and President Macron are expected to agree to further strengthen British-French military interoperability and industrial cooperation, including the joint development of next-generation precision strike weapons, the type of long-range weapon that NATO needs to protection against the growing threat from Russia," the message reads.
Sunak and Macron are also expected to agree on further coordination of arms supplies to Ukraine and training of Ukrainian marines. Since the summer of last year, Great Britain has already trained 11,000 Ukrainian servicemen, and recently expanded the training to include Ukrainian pilots.
Sunak and Macron will also discuss the role NATO members can play in providing Ukraine with the security guarantees it needs to defend itself in the long term.
It was previously reported that at the talks in Paris, Sunak hopes to end years of tension between Britain and France on issues ranging from migration to fisheries.
The day before, in a telephone conversation with US President Joe Biden, Macron discussed continued support for Ukraine.
