The Parliament of Romania approved a declaration in support of Ukraine

On March 7, the Parliament of Romania, at a joint meeting of both houses, approved a declaration to mark the anniversary of the full-scale invasion of Russia, which strongly condemns the war of aggression of the Russian Federation and calls for the immediate withdrawal of Russian troops.

The text of the declaration is provided by the Romanian agency Agerpres.

"We call on the Russian Federation to immediately end the war and withdraw all its military forces and equipment from the entire territory of Ukraine in accordance with internationally recognized borders," Romanian lawmakers said.

They emphasized that all attempts to change the borders of Ukraine by force, starting in 2014, are a flagrant violation of the UN Charter, international law, as well as the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

"We call on the Russian Federation to cooperate unconditionally with international organizations and the International Criminal Court, which is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide committed against Ukraine, and to support international efforts... to establish a jurisdictional mechanism to prosecute individuals , guilty of the crime of aggression," the statement reads.

In the adopted document, the parliament also demands that the Russian Federation "immediately stop the rhetoric regarding the use of nuclear weapons and acts of intimidation of other states, as well as groundless accusations regarding Ukraine's alleged use of biological weapons."

Deputies and senators called on the European and Euro-Atlantic community to strengthen sanctions against the Russian Federation and ensure their preservation for a long time.

"Sanctions should also be aimed at those directly responsible for the crimes committed in Ukraine: President Volodymyr Putin and his entire regime," the statement said.

The Parliament supported "the need for significant participation of Romania in the future efforts regarding the post-conflict reconstruction of the Ukrainian state, as well as the strengthening of the support provided by the Romanian state, especially to the Ukrainian civilian population."

Lawmakers emphasized the need to support the EU accession process of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia.

The document was adopted by 285 votes "for", five voted "against" and two abstained.

We will remind, on March 2, the Parliament of Moldova adopted a declaration condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine, and Dodon's associates defiantly left the hall.
